National Electrical Code Update Course for Licensed Electricians

Calling all licensed electricians: earn your required 15 hours of board-approved code instruction locally!

This class incorporates the International Association of Electrical Inspectors' changes to the 2020 NEC program as well as Mike Holt’s Code Changes and is appropriate for those with licenses in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine.

Those with Type S special licenses can attend day one of this class for their 8 hours of approved training for a reduced tuition of $125.

New Hampshire electrical inspector Ken Vallery leads this class, bringing a sense of humor and real-world experience from his 30+ years in the field.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Earn your CDL and start a rewarding new career! This class offers 150 hours of training for students seeking a class A CDL. Classes meet at CCV in Newport in the mornings and at the driving range in Barton in the afternoons.

Students must be at least 18 with a valid VT driver’s license, with the ability to pass a five-panel drug test and obtain a medical certificate. The United States Department of Transportation requires that all drivers who transport materials across state lines be at least 21.

Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures (HVACR)

This course is an introduction to air conditioning and refrigeration theory, application, systems, components, troubleshooting, and system charging. Hands-on training in our HVACR lab will test students in a variety of scenarios that they will encounter in the field. Completing this class will prepare students for EPA 608 Certification.

Customer Service & Cash Register Training

This state-approved course focuses on essentials for nursing assistants and safe and effective practices in the health care setting. Students learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics, and communication, while preparing for the licensing exam. The written and skill LNA test is scheduled upon completion. Applicants must be able to pass a background check.

Clinical medical assistants are skilled multi-taskers who help to maximize the productivity of the healthcare team.

In this course, you will medical terminology, medical law and ethics, HIPAA rules, scheduling systems, patient check-in and check-out, contents of a medical record, anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, phlebotomy theory, injections, and routine treatment and laboratory duties.

You will be also able to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification exam offered by National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam. Upon completion of the course, you will also have the opportunity to gain access to our Externship Starter Kit.

Pharmacy Technician (Voucher Included)

Pharmacy technicians have become indispensable to the health care industry, and it's a great time to join this growing field.

This program will teach you medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to the pharmacology of medications, and pharmaceutical calculations. You will also get hands-on practice in retail pharmacy procedures through an online lab module. You'll learn what information is necessary to process prescriptions and physician orders and apply that knowledge to fill mock prescriptions. The curriculum also includes the ethics of pharmacy practice and education about prescription medications, patient care, and interaction, and charges and reimbursement.

Students also have the opportunity to apply for a 100+ hour externship at a local Walgreens pharmacy.

Upon completion of this course, you will be prepared to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

This 140 course is designed to teach students the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level and prepare them for certification by the National Registry of EMT's.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

The AEMT functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. AEMTs perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The AEMT is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

Prerequisites - Current National Registry certification or state license at the EMT level, or a higher, current CPR-BLS for "Healthcare Provider" or equivalent credential.

Medication Nursing Assistant (MNA)

This class is offered to LNAs who hold an unencumbered Vermont LNA license and have no fewer than 4000 hours of LNA experience, of which 2000 hours or one year must be in a long term care nursing facility. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and successfully complete the TABE in Applied Mathematics Level D6.

Phlebotomy Certification

Once students have completed their 45 hour CCV Phlebotomy course, they can apply to be part of this 5 hour certification opportunity. Students will have a two hour exam review. Then students will sit for two - three hours for the nationally recognized CPT exam through National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Designed for the novice photographer with no previous experience with digital cameras, this course will teach you all about digital cameras, from DSLRs to smart phone cameras and what different equipment is used for. Learn about different display methods for your camera, including sizing, print options, online storage, and how social media factors into digital photography. If you have old slides, negatives, or prints, you will also learn how to scan those "old school" photo assets.

The VT Dept. of Health requires all restaurants to designate a person in charge who is a certified food protection manager. Meet this important requirement with a ServSafe® certification exam! This course is for teenagers or adults who have a current Vermont Learner’s Permit and want to obtain a Vermont Driver’s License. While this course meets all state requirements, it places special emphasis on crash avoidance, situational awareness, and zone control. The academic component includes 15 or 16 classroom lessons, each lesson being 2 hours long. The driving component typically includes 12 or 13 behind-the-wheel lessons.
