Jennifer Theroux has moved her class online to help prepare future paraeducators for the many job opportunities in our region. Class will include an introduction to the diverse role of paraeducators in the classroom: how services are provided, inclusion, collaborative teaming, instructional strategies, and supporting students with challenging behaviors. This class will meet using Google Meet. Smartphone, tablet, or laptop with video and sound is required. Students are expected to prepare for class by reading assignments before each meeting to be ready for discussion.

***For students who want to be employed as paraeducators and need to take the ParaPro exam (those who have not completed 48 college credits) - a study guide will be provided, academic support available at NEKLS, exam fee coverage may be available. ($65 for ParaPro test)

Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures (HVACR)

This course is an introduction to air conditioning and refrigeration theory, application, systems, components, troubleshooting, and system charging. Hands-on training in our HVACR lab will test students in a variety of scenarios that they will encounter in the field. Completing this class will prepare students for EPA 608 Certification class.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

$5200 - Class A (Tuition includes permit, license, and testing fees)

$3500 - Upgrade B to A

To qualify for a CDL in Vermont, you must be at least 18, have a valid driver’s license, pass a vision exam, and obtain a medical certificate. The United States Department of Transportation requires that all drivers, who transport materials across state lines, be at least 21.

*Classroom learning online with Zoom in the morning, Driver training in Barton with mask-wearing and social distancing protocol in the afternoons.

Learn skills in basic electric arc, oxy-fuel, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc welding processes, as well as the safety procedures required to set up and shut down welding equipment. Industrial standards and American Welding Society standards are the foundation of our curriculum. Teaching will be accelerated depending on student’s experience. The goal for some students will be preparation for AWS certification.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) (Voucher Included)

Clinical medical assistants are skilled multi-taskers who help to maximize the productivity of the healthcare team.

In this course, you will medical terminology, medical law and ethics, HIPAA rules, scheduling systems, patient check-in and check-out, contents of a medical record, anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, phlebotomy theory, injections, and routine treatment and laboratory duties.

You will be also able to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national certification exam offered by National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This course includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam. Upon completion of the course, you will also have the opportunity to gain access to our Externship Starter Kit.

Pharmacy Technician (Voucher Included)

Pharmacy technicians have become indispensable to the health care industry, and it's a great time to join this growing field. Pharmacy technician classes can get you started on this fulfilling career path. You'll gain the skills and knowledge to qualify for entry-level positions in pharmacies and be prepared for national certification.

Upon completion of this course, you will be prepared to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This course also includes a voucher which covers the fee of the exam. Pharmacy technician certification is an important issue for many industry employers and state legislatures, some of which now require national certification. You will also have the opportunity to apply for a 100+ hour externship.

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)

This State Board of Nursing approved course focuses on essentials for nursing assistants, and safe and effective practices in the health care setting. Students learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics, and communication, while preparing for licensing exam. The written and skill LNA test is scheduled upon completion. Applicants must be able to pass a background check.

Medication Nursing Assistant (MNA)

$1000 - Tuition / $100 - Textbook

This class is offered to LNAs who hold an unencumbered Vermont LNA license and have no fewer than 4000 hours of LNA experience, 2000 hours or one year must be in a long term care nursing facility. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and successfully complete TABE in Applied Mathematics Level D6.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

The AEMT functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. AEMTs perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The AEMT is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

Prerequisites - Current National Registry certification or state license at the EMT level, or a higher, current CPR-BLS for "Healthcare Provider" or equivalent credential.

Prepare for a position as an administrative assistant with in-person learning and online training. In-person learning will be led by local administrative expert Heather Baraw, who will focus on workplace professionalism and communication. Online learning with our partner ed2go will guide students through the computer skills needed to advance in an office workplace.

Tuition includes in-person learning at NCCC and Computer Skills for the Workplace on ed2go. Local support will be provided for online learning.

Microsoft Excel 2019/ Office 365

Learn numerous shortcuts to quickly and efficiently set up worksheets, as well as the function wizard to calculate statistics, future values, and more. In addition, you will get tips on sorting and analyzing data, creating three-dimensional workbooks, and automating frequently-repeated tasks with macros and buttons. Microsoft Word 2019/Office 365

This course will introduce you to the 2019 version of Microsoft Word, available through the Office 365 online platform. Learn the basics of Word 2019 needed to write and edit text and to create, format, and organize documents.

Accounting Fundamentals Series

Learn the basics of double-entry bookkeeping, as well as how to analyze and record financial transactions. Get hands-on experience with handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll procedures, sales taxes, and various common banking activities. We'll cover all the bases, from writing checks to preparing an income statement and closing out accounts at the end of each fiscal period.

Introduction to Java Programming

This course uses the latest release of Java, from Oracle, the company that maintains and supports the language. Learn how to use BlueJ, a graphical development environment designed especially for students. Both are free and open-source products and you will receive instructions on how to download and install them.

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required to make a reservation.

The balance is due on July 17th when you pick up the course material.

Checks should be made out to Precision Driver Training School.

This course is for teenagers or adults who have a current Vermont Learner’s Permit and want to obtain a Vermont Driver’s License. While this course meets all state requirements, it places special emphasis on crash avoidance, situational awareness, and zone control. The academic component includes 15 or 16 classroom lessons, each lesson being 2 hours long. The driving component typically includes 12 or 13 behind-the-wheel lessons.
