Class Overview

The Mechatronics Engineering Technology program uses an integrated approach to learn mechanics, electronics, control theory and computer science. Upon successful completion, students will be able to maintain, troubleshoot and diagnose highly sophisticated, automated systems; skills that are extremely valuable to potential employers. Year I students will learn the fundamentals of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, mechanics, robotics and electronic components and their applications including resistors, diodes and capacitors. Year II focuses on preparation for the Level I Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certification and the Systems Approach to Mechatronics. Year II will also incorporate industrial design using state of the art automated equipment and 3-D software such as Solidworks in the development of projects. Work in this portion will include design build projects using 3-D printers and CNC machines. Students will be well prepared to enter a number of STEM related post-secondary programs including mechanical and electrical engineering or begin a job as an entry level technician.
