This training will be a comprehensive training for an entry level broadband network technician. OSHA 10, flagging and first aid and CPR will cover the safety aspects of working outside in remote areas. We will also be covering communication, teamwork and leadership skills to help advance our participants' careers. All of this is on top of Essential broadband skills, which include splicing testing, repairing fiber optic cables and the basic physics of how broadband works. Bucket truck operations, how to operate this essential tool in a safe manner is also going to be covered. The final piece of this training will be Pole climbing, the fiber optic lines need somewhere to hang and power poles are that place. Getting up a pole and working while at height is a huge part of the job description for these technicians, learning how to do it correctly will help tremendously.
Anyone who likes to work outside in the elements and is interested in bringing this important resource to your friends and neighbors might be interested in registering for this training. There are ways to get funding through VSAC, DOL and Hireability VT. If you are interested in a career serving your community please take advantage of this opportunity.
