This state-approved course focuses on essentials for nursing assistants and safe and effective practices in the health care setting. Students learn the basics of assisting patients, body mechanics, ethics, and communication, while preparing for the licensing exam. The written and skill LNA test is scheduled upon completion. Applicants must be able to pass a background check.

Spend the morning earning your Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking, or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.

This class is offered to LNAs who hold an unencumbered Vermont LNA license and have no fewer than 4000 hours of LNA experience, of which 2000 hours or one year must be in a long term care nursing facility. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED and successfully complete the TABE in Applied Mathematics Level D6.

Learn medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to the pharmacology of medications, and pharmaceutical calculations. Get hands-on practice in retail pharmacy procedures through an online lab module. Learn what information is necessary to process prescriptions and physician orders and apply that knowledge to fill mock prescriptions. Other topics include ethics of pharmacy practice, patient care and interaction, and charges and reimbursement.
Students can also apply for a 100+ hour externship at a local Walgreens pharmacy.
Upon completion, sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), included in tuition.

This course offers valuable training in legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts central to this field, including HIPAA compliance, official coding guidelines, and third-party payer requirements. You will also come to understand all phases of the revenue cycle—from patient registration through medical coding, claims submission, reimbursement, and collections. You will also learn common medical terminology to help you converse with others in healthcare easily and with confidence. You will study word parts and the structures and functions of the human body. Also presented are the disorders and medical procedures common to each body system, including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, integumentary, genitourinary, lymphatic, and immune.
