Class Overview
This program provides students with the scientific and technical knowledge and skills needed for college, and career readiness in the broad field of Animal Sciences. Students explore scientific thinking and methods, cellular and microbiology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, reproducion, breeding and genetics, herdsmanship, and clinical diagnostic testing.
Besides working safely and ethically with companion animals, students will be working with 1,500 lb. Holstein cows at the working biological field station in Westfield, Vermont.
This is a one-year program. Students completing one year of Animal Systems Science must continue to Health Sciences 1 to be considered an NCCC Completer.
